Burgundy Grapes began playing instrumental music together in the mid-90s without a band name or musical plan. The process and accumulating material propelled the act to carry on writing and recording. A home-recorded, self-financed and self-titled debut album was released early in 2005 on Ektopia/Outlandish, a tiny Athenian label that was launched as a parallel venture of the Small Music Theatre, a local hub for various types of alternative music, domestic and imported. Both the label and venue are now defunct. The release of the debut album, still available despite the label's closure (see details below), helped Burgundy Grapes take their purely domestic musical fixation to the stage. It was followed by a quickly recorded and sparser-than-usual sounding EP, "Lagero", on the Triple Bath label, in February, 2009. A second album, "Man In The Lighthouse", was released in June, 2010 on Inner Ear Records. "Short Stories, Lasting Shadows", the act's third album, also on Inner Ear Records, emerged in November, 2017.
