In the beginning... Burning Engines was formed around Kalle Johansson, formerly of now split melodic black/goth band Embraced (two albums, numerous tours of Europe), who wanted to break free of the “growling”, and the “no-swing” attitude of the scene. While the other members went off joining Evergrey and Soilwork, Kalle, inspired by the late ´70´s early ´80´s rock and metal scene, formed Burning Engines. The first couple of songs were very much in tune with the ongoing Stoner-trend, but as the songwriting evolved a more “dirty” approach materialized. Burning Engines made their stagedebut at a local open air festival in Malmö 2001. Also on the bill were local greats Debase, Tenebre and Redrum. The good reviews led to Burning Engines opening for Saxon and Entombed and playing their own clubgigs all over Sweden and Denmark in a matter of months. The middle-ages... Come spring 2001, Burning Engines release their debut CD through German label Daredevil Records. This led to the band playing a number of bikerfests and local clubs in southern Germany, as well as the Scandinavian Biker Meet in Sweden, in front of 15.000 mad and bad bikers. A sobering experience to say the least… Present... Members come and go, but the core remains. Mikael Fässberg (Guitars), Kalle Johansson (Vocals), and Carl-Michael "Hilton" Hildesjo (Drums) remain true to the cause. 2003 – 2004 has been spent playing clubs and festivals in Sweden, Germany and Denmark, as well as in the rehearsal room, recording some new material . They also established contact with ex Iron maiden vocalist (the ONLY Iron Maiden vocalist for some... ) Paul DiAnno, and his impressario Lea Hart, by accident, and became part of Paul´s 25:th anniversary as a recording artist, and they´re right now building up momentum for a Swedish tour with Paul, starting in Stockholm February 17 2005. Burning Engines anno 2005 is a band that knows exactly what they want to be: A Raw and Energetic Rockband. Not perfect, Never Compromising, Always Entertaining, and True to the spirit of ROCK! “Burning Engines exists and shines the brightest in the fine line between chaos and order: Live in front of an audience. When lights go down these guys are in their prime…Subtle? Fuck no, but it sure does RAAWWK like 1984. Bad ass attitude and Great stage presence! Looks as cool as they sound."
