Few songwriters captured the nuances of romance with the down to earth yet transporting style that Burt Bacharach did, and this collection gathers some of his best-known love songs as performed by artists including Diana Ross, the Walker Brothers, and Bacharach himself. This set doesn't always feature the definitive versions of these songs; "Walk On By" is performed by Stan Getz instead of Dionne Warwick, and indeed, Bacharach's most enduring muse is nowhere to be found. However, there are still plenty of impressive performances here, including Dusty Springfield's "In the Land of Make Believe," Tammi Terrell's "A Sinner's Devotion," and Bacharach's own "This Guy's in Love with You." Fans who love the songwriter's music enough to discover some lesser-known interpretations of his classics should find a lot to enjoy here.
