Dave Burton and Gord Honeyman were teenage friends with similar tastes in music. They formed the duo, Burton & Honeyman working the Toronto (Yorkville) pop/folk music scene, and in 1976 were signed to Condor Records. The duo released two albums for the label; "Two Of A Kind" (Condor-977-1467) in 1976 and two years later released a self-title album (Condor 977-1475). Sessions for the "Two Of A Kind" LP were recorded in Toronto and in Nashville, while the self-titled album was recorded at Ironside Studios in Nashville with Lonnie Salazar and Joe Bob Barnhill sharing production credits. Six of the songs on the debut album were co-written by Dave Burton and Gord Honeyman, while the second album served up another seven songs co-written by the duo Seven singles from the albums charted nationally including the 1977 #1 hit "Christopher Mary" (Condor 97147) which was backed with "My Best Friend", both tunes co-written by Dave Burton and Gord Honeyman. Other singles taken from their debut album included "Two Of A Kind" (Condor 97118) which charted at #13 on the RPM Charts in 1976, "On The Road Again" which was a #18 hit in 1978, and "Early Morning Dawn" (Condor-97157) which charted at #21. Three additional singles were pulled from Burton & Honeyman's second album, including "Goin' Home" b/w "Seasons" (Condor-97166) which charted at #14 on the RPM charts in 1978 followed by " Lady Of The Night" b/w "Southern Nights" (Condor 97167) which peaked on the charts at #34. Their final charting single was "Girl's First Love" (Condor-97177) which reached #48 on the RPM charts in 1978. Burton & Honeyman earned a Juno Award nomination for Country Group Or Duo in 1978; and during the height of their career guested on several of Canada's top country music TV shows. The duo disbanded shortly after their last charted single. Gord Honeyman passed away March 2, 2016 in Barrie, Ontario, Canada at age 64. Dave Burton resides in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, where he continues to offer his services as a musician and vocalist.
