Côr Meibion y Traeth – Traeth Male Choir – was founded in 1969 in order to compete at the Anglesey Eisteddfod which was held that year in Bro Goronwy, near Benllech, where many of the members lived. Initially rehearsals were held at the Pentraeth Primary School, translated means “beach head”, the Choir therefore, unlike most Welsh choirs, takes its name not from a town or village, but from the word “traeth” meaning “beach”.
