Chris Burns is a songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist living in Portland, Maine. He writes and records many different kinds of music under several pseudonyms, mostly as C Money Burns (sometimes stylized as C$ Burns). He has other releases as ＭＡＸＸ ＬＥＧＲＯＯＭ, ＫＥＮＮＹ ＬＯＧＩＮ and Elevator Hotels. He has worked with a number of underground rap and electronic artists associated with Portland's Milled Pavement Records, most notably art-rapper Brzowski, who is in Gothic Doom Rap band Vinyl Cape with Burns and DJ Mo Niklz (Ceschi, Cage, Fake Four). Burns released his first record, Friends With Money, on Milled Pavement (MP050) in 2012, featuring Brzowski and other underground rap luminaries Riddlore?, k-the-i??? MC Homeless, and F. Virtue. 2014 saw Burns releasing more music: a Vinyl Cape self-released digital single (Famine First), then the Veneficium 7" on DIY Bandits (DIY666), and a self-released EP of demos for his Vampire Cowboy Post-Rock project Elevator Hotels (DEMO EP1). 2015 saw another Elevator Hotels release (DEMO EP2), and a 23-track Vinyl Cape mixtape (Ritual Abuse : Mixed Cape I) comprised of remixes, unreleased tracks and features from Burns and Brzowski, mixed by Mo Niklz. In 2016, Burns released a Vapour-related trilogy of records; the Mallsoft-centric FOOD COURT Ａｆｔｅｒｈｏｕｒｓ as ＫＥＮＮＹ ＬＯＧＩＮ on Question Records (QR21), the Hardvapour/Doom Vapor-themed Дьявол в деталях as C Money Burns on Antifur (AF33) and the Vaportrap/Vaporfunk mixtape ＣＯＮ／ＳＵＭ／ＭＥＲ as ＭＡＸＸ ＬＥＧＲＯＯＭ on Pizzabox Society Records (PS_32). Vinyl Cape toured the US East Coast in August 2016 augmented with drummer Jane Boxall, and released their first full-length The Glitter of Putrescence on Milled Pavement (MP064) in September. Burns has also recorded and toured with Portland Indie Slowcore collective Seekonk, recorded and toured with Uncommon Nasa (Uncommon Records, Def Jux), and has worked on/contributed to records by several indie rap and electronic artists, whether as an instrumentalist, producer, post-producer, mix/master engineer or technical consultant (Brzowski + Halo, Short Fuze, Jesse Dangerously, Willie Green).
