C.O.D.

Band,
Musician / Arranger / Producer of Dance, Rock and R&B/Soul

One-album disco studio group Brainchild of guitarist Joe Falsia, a member of Tim Buckley's group in the early 1970's. Appearing on Buckley's 1972, 1973 and 1974 albums as a guitarist/arranger, then as producer. He has also played for and produced Stephen Sinclair and Joanne MacKell. By 1979 Falsia decided to gather a group of friends and fellow studio musicians to record a series of tracks aimed at a disco/rock market. The resulting "Tears" album featured eight tracks, mostly new songs written by Falsia and Sinclair. Lead vocals were handled by Bobby Ray and backgrounds by Denyce Deuschle, Nick Uhrig and Barbara Cross. The two cover songs were a smooth version of the Rascals hit "Groovin'" and a high energy disco remake of Peter Frampton's "(Putting My) Heart On The Line." The latter along with "Yes I Will" stormed the club charts in late 1979 and into 1980. Though the Casablanca release was successful no 12" singles were issued and given the climate of disco music at the time no further releases were issued. Although a rap group has appeared in the 1990's it's not the same group. Ray has disappeared and Falsia has carried on as a studio musician and producer. He recently produced Smalltalk's self-titled debut in 1994 and a Tim Buckley album in 1995. In 2002 he released the compilation "California Soul" which featured a fresh batch of up and coming west coast groups and artists.
