A.k.a. (George) Calvin Hampton
Was a leading American organist and sacred music composer (December 31, 1938–August 5, 1984). Hampton was born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory (1960) and Syracuse University (1963). He served as Organist and Choirmaster of Calvary Episcopal Church, Gramercy Park, New York City, from September 1963 to June 1983. He was also a respected composer for the church and for the concert stage.
