Philippe Vandenberghe and Jean-Marc Lesieur started the band after many years of individual singing of the sea and sailors. The virus of the music is too loud and the "Cap Horn" group was created in October 1999. Soon, Jacques Portal, also a former "Tonnerre de Brest", joined his comrades with his double bass, guitar and his voice. That's Olivier Blaisot, guitarist and singer, who completes the équipage.Cap Horn is made and gradually takes off with, for musical baggage, directory, borrowed from the traditional songs of the sailors but also and above all, made songs written by the group and texts by authors such as John Richepin, Tristan Corbiere, Tanneau Georges and Henri Giroux (member of "Goristes"). If the group attaches considerable importance to the texts, it does not mean forgetting the music and integrates songs melodies came from Brittany, Ireland, Scotland or Northern Europe. The powerful and clear voice of Philip, natural leader of the group, gives harmonies with that of its peers to focus on polyphony. Jacques and Olivier also take center stage por conduct more nostalgic or more rhythmic songs. The instrumentation is rich and can give very different colors from one song to another. From the accordion to the cittern and flutes and bagpipes, Jean-Marc is a little "colorist" group, relayed by Olivier and his sober guitar solos and still do well. The meeting with Patrick Audouin Amadeus studio Brest would naturally lead to the production of a CD that was created in June 2001. Distributed by Keltia Music, it is the perfect reflection of what Cap Horn offers on stage, concert inspired songs and traditional music but part of his time and always very personal.
