L.A.'s Captain Genius gets its unique sound from a blend of melodic power-pop, old school rock and roll, and a hint of roots music. CG lives somewhere between Fountains of Wayne and Wilco, and around the corner from Matthew Sweet and Weezer. Matthew Stephen Young, the band's singer/guitarist offers clever, vulnerable and sincere lyrics to the band's powerful sound. Bassist Kevin Danczak and drummer Chris K. provide a super-tight backbeat while keyboardist David Keeton adds lush organ and piano parts, as well as groovy space-synth sounds. CG's dynamic debut cd gives the listener ten very catchy, rockin' pop songs.
