Artist Statement: "Intrepid Hobbyist began as a playlist of my various compilation submissions over the past eight years to hear how I'd grown and changed in my compositional approach to abstract music and noise, and ended up as this somewhat more formal mp3 compilation for control valve. even if you've never heard any of my proper releases, as will be the case with some of you, hearing these tracks will grant you the insight into how i have approached my craft over the years. imo these pieces stand on their own, but when taken as a whole, catalog my efforts as they ebbed and flowed with time. one thing that becomes apparent when listening to the collection is that i enjoy stylistic shifts between various recognized genres within the experimental field, my creative itch allows for this. the influence of my personal favorites: brume, john wiese, incapacitants, dave phillips, rhy yau, kazumoto endo, small cruel party, daniel menche, christian fennesz, lasse marhaug, all show up in one way or another though out. thanks for listening."
