Recorded 1931-1950 Made in Austria Printed in Germany Volume 1 of Carroll's Boyfriends (CDEA 6004) gave some prominence to guest star Hildegarde, and featured a number of standards. The emphasis in Volume 2 leans towards film selections, whereby a medley of up to three songs was carried on one side of a 78 record. Vocalists include Carroll's resident girl singer Anne Lenner, the Australian contralto Marjorie Stedeford, the comedienne Binnie Hale, Bobbie Howes, and the vocal trio of the Carlyle Cousins. Special mention should be made of the selection from Jerome Kern's show "The Cat And The Fiddle" which was recorded under the pseudonym of The Masqueraders, and which included the vocal talents of Al Bowlly, and a couple of tracks feature xylophonist Rudy Starita. All in all, another treat from a great bandleader. beautifully remastered by Mike Dutton, with an informative liner note by Bob Francis.
