A.k.a. Jeanne Cassia Haecker
Cassia was a performer, singer, hairdresser from West-Berlin. There was no line between her private life and her art. She ran the hair-dressing / art gallery / installation store Penny Lanes together with Lucie Weishaupt in a former turkish Kebap store in a then squatted building in the Potsdamer Strasse in Berlin-Schöneberg. The store had no running water and was not run as a proper commercial enterprise. They specialised in really extravagant punk hair styles and pubic hair styling. Cassia was part of the performance/music project Mannamaschine, who performed at the second Berlin Atonal festival, where she was tied in the nude to a metal frame and placed upside down with a microphone taped to her chest. In 1986 she burned herself on the beach in Cuxhaven.
