The German-Italian piano trio Cattleya was founded in 1990. "Cattleya" is the name of an American orchid variety, but it is also a metaphor used by French novelist Marcel Proust in the center piece of of his work, "In Search of Lost Time". Cattleya play jazz of a different kind, very mellow and lyrical with influences from pop, folk and impressionism. Members are: Michel Bisceglia (piano) Volker Heinze (double bass) Harald Ingenhag (drums)
