Celso Brando

A.k.a. Celso de Omena Brando

Graduated in architecture, Celso Brando started his musical career in the early 60s, performing with Eumir Deodato. Later on, he joined Roberto Menescal's group as rhythm guitarist. Brando recorded in such seminal Bossa Nova albums as Embalo (Tenório Jr.) and Wanda Vagamente (Wanda Sá) and became known as "the Brazilian Barney Kessel. He is also a master of pedal steel guitar. In the early 90s, he became a very successful photographer (doing pics for albums by Eumir Deodato, Ithamara Koorax, Carlos Pingarilho, Mario Castro Neves, Thiago De Mello), and remains active in the 2000s, working often for the JSR label. He is influenced by Duane Michals and Alen MacWeeney.
