Singer of World, Folk and Pop
Maria Cecilia Pimentel Bautista, better known as Cely Bautista, was a Filipino singer. She first recorded the song "Waldas" in the 50s under Mico Records. Her singing continued into the '60s and she also appeared in several films. Born in 1939, Cely was often referred to as the Jukebox Queen of the 1950s. She also became a member of the Mabuhay Singers, a group formed under Villar-Mareco Records in 1958 under the music direction of Leopoldo Silos. Sadly, Cely Bautista passed away in September 2018.
