Italian saxophonist, arranger [Fiume (Rijeka), Dec 5, 1926 - † Oct 4, 2013]. At age 10 a sax as a gift, at 11 studies the clarinet. An aunt from New York brings an Artie Shaw lp.It begins so his long love affair with jazz (at that time prohibited in Italy). Survives the Nazi camps, emigrates to the US in 1950, enlists in the Marines to Korea. At Fort Dix, New Jersey, becomes the first contralto in the 173rd Army Band, but not music for band, just great jazz. Great friend of Lee Konitz. A forgotten hero of the Italian jazz
