Album US on The Library Of Congress label
Folk (Folk)
The Archive Of American Folk Song in the Library Of Congress has, since 1928, been the chief repository in the United States for field recordings of American folk songs. Leaflets accompanying each of the long playing records supply transcriptions of the texts of the songs together with information about their origin and background, and include references to authoritative books and leading scholarly articles in order that the student may further pursue his study in the different fields of American folk song. The recordings were originally issued in albums of five records each. These records have now been transferred in their original sequence to long playing discs.
