Gatefold sleeve with inner pockets containing 45rpm 7" and 16pp score. Sleevenotes in Dutch and English: INVENZIONI per organo was written in 1963 at the request of Charles de Wolff. With the conception of this work in mind he and composer Carel Brons visited the splendid Schnitger organ in the city of Zwolle's main church (the GROTE KERK) to check the innumerable possibilities of this great instrument. It is in part due to this visit that INVENZIONI has become a work particularly well suited to this organ. The composition was only partly written in a serial technique; not dogmatically, however, but more freely, within the limitations as planned. The registerial dynamics of the organ was one of the starting-points in projecting INVENZIONI. Another was the very important relationship between the organ and the space in which it sounds. It is fascinating to realize how sometimes for centuries an organ and its environment collaborate, and how this collaboration leads to ever new and varying forms of music. In this way eighteen characteristic musical symbols are made to sound in INVENZIONI, which consists of eighteen short sections, varying in many respects. The entire work tries to invoke a musical event with many contrasting aspects.
