Album FR 1996 on Erato label
Classical (Modern)
Recorded: 18-20 October, 1996, IRCAM, Paris. The Second Piano Sonata was composed between 1909 and 1915 and was the first work Ives ever published, requiring the intervention of viola in the first movement and flute in the last. The Three Quarter-Tone Pieces were written in 1923-24 for a special piano with 2 keyboards, but they are now usually performed on 2 pianos, the second being tuned a quarter tone below the first.
