Berlin native Charles Tone was already active as a guitarist and singer in numerous underground bands in the city ten years before he started his work as a DJ in 1994. Even during his band days, he was much more interested in synthetic soundscapes in the style of Robert Fripp than the distorted electric guitar solos of some of his co-musicians and their influences. This is reflected in the music of Charles Tone. Together with his partner DJ Mary Jane, he has organized events like the "360feiern" parties, "dirty kicks...forget Friday", "Club del Mate" and numerous other activities.
