Charlie is rising fast in the UK tech-house scene. Only 23, but already with 8 years club experience, he began djing in his home town of Bournemouth, where he gained his first residency in 1997, at the long-standing Outer Limits parties. This weekly residency lasted 2 years, and in that time he played alongside the cream of the world’s techno artists. During his stint at the outer limits, a new sound began filtering down from London, helped by guests such as Mr C, Dave Mothersole and Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ B, and Charlie’s love of Tech-house began to develop. As one of the first dj’s outside of London to be pushing the tech-house sound, Charlie began to pick up bookings at clubs all around the UK, building a solid reputation for his long, smooth mixing and open-minded programming. In 1999 Charlie moved to London to study Sound Engineering, and soon after had his first release with Igloo records. From there he continued to work on various collaborations and solo projects, as well as engineering for one of London’s leading dance studios, Mother Digital, where he has currently worked on well over 50 released tracks. Now signed to Low Pressings, one of the UK’s leading house labels, Charlie’s services as producer and remixer are increasingly being called upon, and 2002 will see a slew of releases for some of the UK’s top deep and tech-house imprints. Busy in the studio most of the time now, look out for Charlie’s solo projects on Low Pressings, as well as collaborations with Alison Marks, Nick Watson, and many more, as well as remixes as Charlie Tear, Warm & Tear and Deep Architecture.
