Singer of Country and World
A.k.a. Adam Edward Semeniuk
Canadian country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, promoter and producer whose music career spanned 60 years. Born 1929 on a farm near Sturgis, Saskatchewan he moved to Toronto in 1952 to further his music career. Down on his luck, he was forced to work at a restaurant, where he gained his nickname "Chef" from the country musicians who frequented the establishment. Within a few years he was fronting The Country Rhythm Kings and started his recording career in 1956. After a few years he left The Country Rhythm Kings to form a duo with Yvonne Terry and then later started Chef Adams and The Adams Boys. In 1968 he established a booking agency, Chef Adams Enterprises. During the next decade he released a string of singles and albums that charted well in Canada. During the 1980s he began producing recordings for other Canadian country artists while continuing to perform. He passed away August 28, 2017 in Lindsay, Ontario at age 90.
