Percussionist and singer from Senegal. The dance traditions of west Africa are preserved through the workshops and concerts of Senegal-born percussionist/dancer Cheikh Tidiane Niane. A former soloist for Senegal's national ballet troupe, Niane toured throughout Germany, Switzerland, and Austria for a decade. His workshops on African dance, which emphasize natural movement, feature his instruction set to the rhythms of his drum.
