The Chinchillas were formed in 1985 in Rochester, NY out of the remnants of popular area bands The Press Tones, Hit and Run, and Omawahozen. The band still today retains the original lineup of: Peter Anvelt (guitar, vocals) Bill Corbett (bass, vocals) Bill Ribas (lead guitar) Paul Ruske (drums) In addition to headlining clubs and festivals throughout the region, they have opened up for national acts such as Goo Goo Dolls, 900 Ft Jesus, Jerry Harrison, Flock of Seagulls, The Ramones and Johnny Thunders. They have released several CDs on the Jargon Records independent label.
