The TWS (Technische Werke der Stadt Stuutgart) originated on 1 May 1933 through the merger of the municipal electricity, gas and water works in the biggest town in South West Germany. As of January 1, 1997, the TWS merged with Neckarwerke Elektrizitätsversorgungs-AG to form Neckarwerke Stuttgart AG (NWS). The staff also included a choir and an orchestra.
