This album is inspired by time spent on the magical island of Bali. It’s a sort of spiritual journey of discovery, on the way to finding a better way of living. Good Karma is a real place and a head space. It turned into somewhere imaginary somewhere in the process of working with this combination of music and field recordings. Each track began with some sound from the island recorded on my phone and some text written in my notebook. Those two elements informed how I approached the music. The main collaborators on this project are Nick Cornu, an extraordinary guitarist who is based in London and Gus Till, a keyboard player and producer who is based in Bali. They both had an instinctive understanding of the musical landscape I was trying to create. The tracks are long and meandering, like a daydream of an idea of a far away place that will always feel close when I close my eyes.
