*1966
Carty (aka Chris Morgan (16)) was born on July 17th, 1966 in Newport, Wales, where he grew up listening to Adam And The Ants and Bow Wow Wow, which greatly influenced his musical life. After a number of DJ gigs at friends' weddings, he spent 15 years as a volunteer/radio presenter at Channel 1 Radio, based in the Royal Gwent Hospital, before working in professional radio for Touch AM/Red Dragon FM (now Smooth Radio/Capital FM respectively). He also worked as a club DJ for 15 years at various venues, including residencies Dukes (Pontypool), The Pleasuredome (Cwmbran) and the Pen & Wig (Newport). Carty transitioned from radio and club DJing to music production, producing over 100 unofficial Adam And The Ants/Adam Ant remixes, mash-ups and megamixes. At the same time he maintained a successful Ants website, interviewing many ex-members of the band including Adam himself. Musically, he worked closely with Ants' guitarist Marco Pirroni, producing the tracks Panzer Mädchen (which featured fellow The Wolfmen (2), Chris Constantinou playing bass) and Physical. He has also produced (unofficial) remixes for the Lavender Pill Mob (featuring Kevin Mooney) track It Doesn't Matter. In 2004, a Carty mash-up between Adam And The Ants and Rachel Stevens appeared on DMC's monthly release, Commercial Collection 274, credited to Chris Morgan (16). In 2005, Carty produced 7 out of 12 tracks of the Mantra II album Werewolves Of London, which also featured ex-Ants Terry Lee Miall, Marco Pirroni and Chris Constantinou. In 2007, a Carty mash-up between Breathe & Stop and Ice Queen was played on Dutch radio station 3FM In 2007, Carty entered a competition to remix 18 Strings. He didn't make the final 5 winning mixes, but the producer behind the original, Dakeyne, said this about Carty's entry: "Hi Carty, just to say thanks to you personally – your mix came very close to being part of the final five, and if it were a final ten, you’d have got there – just thought you may like to know. Cheers and thank you, Paul". In 2008, Carty produced a mash-up of Stand & Deliver! and Take On Me for a voting competition on 80s retro site, www.remembertheeighties.com . In 2013, Carty was offered the chance to remix Broken, the 2nd single by Silver, taken from their album XLVII. The single was released on November 7th, featuring Carty's Silver Oak Remix. Shortly afterwards Carty teamed up with vocalist Andy Patchell to form Strange Incision, covering the Adam Ant song Wonderful. In 2014, Carty entered another remix competition. This time to remix Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love), a song very close to his heart. The result was an epic recreation staying close to the original, albeit an unsuccessful entry. In 2015, Carty is still producing and can be found DJing in Second Life as Carty Ruggles.
