A.k.a. Phuong Thao Nguyen Christina Sing
Born in Vietnam, Christina Sing (Born Phuong Thao Nguyen) immigrated to Canada at the age of 6. She was first introduced into the Vancouver music scene by dancing to house music, and inevitably becoming a DJ worshipper. Already an avid and encouraged singer in her Church Choir, she was eager to share her lust for music. Christina's strong, soulful sound belied her untrained past, and her creativity flourished in collaborations with local DJ's producing underground dance music. At the young age of 18, she was rewarded with her first 12" vinyl release on PFB Records, an independent Vancouver music label. Her first track called "Time", cowritten with producer Sean Dimitrie (Bombay Records) and remixed by Luke McKeehen (Nordic Tracks) was put out in 1998. Sean Dimitrie and Christina Sing (then still known as Christina Nguyen) developed a working relationship that birthed 2 worldwide vinyl releases. "S'more" (remixed by DJ Rasoul and DJ Iz) was put out by Transport Records in 2002 and "Every Player's Dream" by Village Recordings in 2003.
