Christoph Fischer

Born: 1520, Joachimstal, Bohemia. Died: October 1597, Zelle, Germany. Son of Jakob Fischer, Christoph matriculated at the University of Wittenberg in November 1540 (MA 1544). He was ordained in Wittenberg on 10 February 1544, and served as pastor and probst at Jüterbogk, near Wittenberg. In 1552, he became cathedral preacher and superintendent at Schmalkalden, in 1571 pastor and general superintendent at Celle, and in 1577 chief pastor of St. Martin’s church in Halberstadt. He returned to Celle in 1583 as general superintendent of Lüneburg.
