Christopher Cerrone

Christopher Cerrone (b. 1984) is an American composer and sound artist based in Brooklyn. He studied composition at the Manhattan School Of Music with Nils Vigeland and Reiko Füting, and later earned masters and doctorate degrees at Yale University, where his teachers were Martin Bresnick, David Lang, Christopher Theofanidis, Ingram Marshall, and Ezra Laderman. Cerrone is a member of a composers' collective Sleeping Giant. Cerrone's recent projects include world premieres with The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (for Jeffrey Kahane's final concert as LACO music director), The Calder Quartet, and Third Coast Percussion with Rachel Calloway, as well as an electroacoustic work for flutist Tim Munro. His music has been performed by The Phoenix Symphony, Eighth Blackbird, Jennifer Koh, Vicky Chow, Ashley Bathgate, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Present Music, and numerous other ensembles and musicians. Christopher was a composer-in-residence with the Albany Symphony Orchestra. Since 2008, the composer wrote 3 operas, four Orchestras, pieces for large ensemble with or without vocalists, and many chamber compositions – some of them for acoustic instruments with electronics. Cerrone also created a sound installation/electronic work for Pink Pamphlet label, released in 2010 as a 20-min Five Days CD.
