Composer
Jesús Monge Ramírez (November 9, 1910, Morelia - August 9, 1964, Mexico City) was a Mexican composer, author of numerous boleros, internationally known for his song Mexico Lindo Y Querido. He began his musical career competing against artists such as Agustín Lara and Alfonso Esparza Oteo, in a waltz competition. Later he was a radio artist in the XEQ, XEW and XEB. His compositions led him to make friends with Lucha Reyes, who was a great interpreter of his songs, and the bullfighter Manolete, a great admirer of Chucho. His song The Flower Fair was the subject of a Disney film that was never released due to copyright issues. He was a founding partner of the Society of Authors and Composers of Music of Mexico, together with Gonzalo Curiel, Alfonso Esparza Oteo, Tata Nacho and others. An episode that has been left in oblivion, was when in 1947 Chucho Monge sued Agustín Lara for plagiarism. The skinny of Gold used part of the music of the song the rower, of Chucho Monge, to include it in his famous song Maria Bonita. Finally they reached a friendly settlement, but the legal suit was very loud in those days. Excerpt from the link
