Chuck A. Epperson

In 1992, "The Professor" started going to "Raves" & "Afterhour" events in St. Louis, MO. Then in 1993, He started buying electronic music on vinyl. In June of 1994, He began learning to program & beat mix. He was asked to play at his 1st house party on December 24th, 1994 by Lance Robertson, who went on to become, "DJ Lance Rock" of "Yo Gabba Gabba!". In February of 1995, He teamed up with his one of his closest friends & fellow DJ, Juan Mauri-Vera who went by the name, Jajo (6) (pronounced Ha-Ho) to become the new promoters of, "The Solution To Boring Wednesdays" at club "Fallout". They both played 2 one hour sets & featured a weekly guest DJ, of both local & nation talent. Also in 1995, He started producing as well, making dub's & remixes of songs He liked, as well as making original tracks. He had many of the tracks He made pressed to acetate, so that He could play them in his sets. He did this on His own private label, "Groovin' Music". He also began promoting own his own, throwing both club events & party's. He brought in some of the DJ's from the west coast, like "DJ Dan" (a close personal friend of his) & Jim Hopkins to further broaden the local scene. His career was accelerating at warp speed & He seemed unstoppable. In The early part of 1997, His close friend Jajo died of an accidental overdose. He stopped promoting, playing & producing overnight. He took a year & 1/2 off to come to terms with Jajo's death & deal with the loss. In August of 1998, He started playing & touring again. In December of 1999, He embarked on an extensive 3 month long tour of Europe, Russia, China, Japan, India, Africa & Canada. He returned to Europe again in 2000, to play at several club's & party's, including getting a last minute booking to play at the "Love Parade" in Berlin, Germany. The crowd was estimated to be 1,300,000 that year! In the early part of 2001, His good friend Laura died of an accidental overdose. He had now lost 2 of His favorite 4 people on the planet, and He was devastated. Again, He stopped everything, this time for just over two years. Sometime in 2003, He started playing again. This time however, He would only play a few select club's & party's a year, preferring to stay "Underground". In 2014, I tried to book Him for an upcoming event. He called me back around 4 A.M. (Pacific Time) on January 16th, 2014 to decline the offer. He informed me that He'd decided to call it quits, minutes before returning my call. Later that day, the News was reporting that Russell Johnson, the actor who played "The Professor" On "Gilligan's Island" had died early that morning. I couldn't believe it! Such a weird coincidence...
