Single US 2003 on Mutt Records label
(Electro, Pop Rock, Folk)
From the back of the sleeve:
Like The Flaming Lips, Chumbawamba toiled in the fields of indie obscurity for better than a decade before being radically altered and redefined as a novelty modern rock act by one smash single.
For The Lips, who formed in 1983, it was 1993's "She Don't Use Jelly" that took them from humble hipster bars to being guest stars on Beverly Hills 90210.
For Chumbawamba, who formed in 1984, it was of course 1997's "Tubthumping" that turned them from unknown punk anarchists to musical guests for Rosie O'Donnell's talk show.
"Readymades And Then Some", a sophisticated mix of gorgeous music and clever political commentary, proves the band to be plenty more than one-hit wonders and well-deserving of a second look at their career.
