Italian painter and mosaicist, born ca. 1240 in Florence, Italy; died ca. 1302 in Pisa, Italy. Born as Bencivieni (or Cenni) di Pepo, in modern Italian Benvenuto di Giuseppe, but most commonly known by his nickname Cimabue ("bullheaded"). Master of Giotto.
