Track A is from "Suite Bergamasque" Track B1 is from "Préludes: Book 1, No. 2" Track B2 is from "Préludes: Book 2, No. 6" Tracks C and D are a musical evocation of Stéphane Mallarmé’s poem "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" Track E is from "Préludes: Book 1, No. 10" Track G is from "Préludes: Book 2, No. 2" Track H is from "Pour le piano" - Suite This recording was one of four album (and three single) releases which launched classical music offerings by the M-G-M label. The line was called the “Popular Classics Series” with albums to be issued (almost exclusively) in 33⅓ and 45 RPM formats. The three other album releases were: an Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden recording of Tchaikovsky’s “Aurora’s Wedding” (cat. nos. K60 & E-524 and M-G-M’s flagship release), a Bach organ package performed by Carl Weinrich (cat. no. E-527) and a collection of “orchestral evergreens” called “A Promenade Concert” (cat. nos. K58 & E-525) The three singles would be featuring Lauritz Melchior, Donald Dame and a "house orchestra" led by Macklin Marrow. The discs have been pressed to play in the correct sequence when used with auto-changing record players.
