Claudia Campagnol (earlier known as Claudia Dancs) was born February 22nd 1987 in Budapest, Hungary. She comes from a gypsy family where most of her relatives are musicians. Claudia was raised and schooled in Malmö, Sweden, and graduated from the Malmö Academy of Music. Soon she met and married the Swedish-Italian drummer Niclas Campagnol who lived in Copenhagen, Denmark, therefore she moved to Denmark. Claudia was singing before she could talk, and she started to transcribe songs at the age of 4. She knew very early what she wanted to be, even though her parents never really showed her how to sing or play. They never really encouraged her either, because every time they wanted to teach her something on the piano, she pushed them away and wanted to learn everything by herself. But she learned many things through her parents... Her mother (Gigi Dancs) was a singer and a pianist in Hungary, and she played gigs every single night for 8 months of her pregnancy with Claudia inside her belly. Claudia's father (Laszlo Dancs) was a classical pianist with great potentials, and won several contests already at the age of 7. His teacher wished to send him to compete in Russia, but he was never allowed by his mother. When the three of them moved to Sweden, Laszlo joined a latin american salsa group. They toured a lot and soon discovered that Claudia could sing, so she became their singer - singing in spanish without understanding the words but pronouncing them perfectly. Claudia also wanted to play the piano and the electric bass, but her little brother (Laszlo Dancs) took over the bass and became one of her favorite colleagues. Claudia started to listen to jazz and fusion in her teen age, and attended the Academy of Music at a time where she didn't know whether to sing jazz or classical. She had a great classical voice and her teacher in high school wished for her to study further in Rome, Italy. Claudia gave up the idea because she felt that she needed to sing improvised music and make art and not recreate already existing art. Recently, Claudia has been signed by Danish label Giant Sheep Music, and her debut album is set to be dropped late 2017/early 2018.
