Rock and Pop
Born: 1946 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Co-founder of the Zomba Group of Companies (including Jive) with Ralph Simon in 1975. Calder bought out Simon's stake in 1990, and then sold the company to Bertelsmann AG (owners of BMG) for $2.74 billion in December 2002. Calder kept his company very private and did not have a very public life, though he is largely responsible for organizing the success of Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, among countless others.
