Having grown up watching his father (Ray Kingsmore) play drums, Colin developed a passion for music. At the age of 12, Colin began to pick up the drum sticks on a regular basis. He studied music at Mayfield School of The Arts. At Mayfield, he Colin studied with Daryl Eaton (played lead trumpet in The Buddy Rich big band) and John Chalmers (Head of Ontario Vocal Jazz Festival).
