Album US 2013 on WideTrax Productions label
Hip-Hop/Rap (Conscious)
The album De-mentions is an autobiography of sorts based on a brush with death that Collab had in April of 2008. After problems throughout his whole adult life with drugs and alcohol, Collabs motivation to release the album came just before his 5 year sobriety date as a catalyst to inspire people with the same afflictions as himself, and to let the listeners know, it is possible to overcome anything. The title De-mentions has double meaning. For one, each song is comprised of it's own dimensional feel. Every time a track changes over, the listener will feel as if they are in a different place, and can relate to the multiple aspects. Secondly, De-mentions means Collab is touching on topics most people are afraid to talk about and will not mention in everyday conversation. He puts his whole life out there in the hopes that people will understand that addiction is very real, but at the same time, people will understand that it is possible to overcome it. Tracks like E=Emcee² will take listeners to the dark place Collab was in, and also help them see how he pulled out of that place. La Victime will put listeners in Collabs shoes during the night he tried to take his own life, and was given a second chance. Then there are tracks like 914 and Time Machine that have a positive and uplifting message about how Collab has turned his life around with the hopes that he can help someone else do the same. With the release, listeners will have a chance to travel to different De-mentions with Collab and hopefully come back with the mindset that anything is possible.
