Romanian ethnomusicologist and composer, born 13th August 1893 in Bucharest - deceased 20th December 1958 in Geneva. Founding member of the Romanian Composers' Union. Founder and director of the Archives Internationales de Musique Populaire (AIMP) at the Ethnographic Museum of Geneva in 1944 until his death. Assistant professor at the CNRS since 1948. The Romanian ethnological research institute (Institutul de Etnografie și Folclor „Constantin Brăiloiu”) has been named in his honour.
