Starting as an accident in 2007 in Chicago, IL, Matt Palenske under the monicker Consumer. has used improvised vocal looping to infiltrate a wide spectrum of worlds, traversing the rock, performance art, jazz, punk, metal, noise, dance, and otherwise avant garde scenes of Portland, OR often 5+ times a month. The vicious performances undercut expectations, jumping roles without warning; a reverend delivering a sermon one moment to a sweaty house DJ to an outright vibrating spazz the next. While in Portland, Consumer. released four cassettes (three being splits with national artists) and was a major part of a community spearheaded by the SDM Records collective, uniting the fringes of the creative culture in the Pacific Northwest and known for booking eclectic events, splashing the world with online and cassette releases while employing hardcore street promotion. 2017 sees a move back to the roots. Consumer. arrived in Chicago, IL.
