CF1 is one of Wales’ most successful choirs. Since its inception as an ‘Aelwyd’ in 2002, the choir’s successes include many first prizes in the Urdd Eisteddfod and the National Eisteddfod of Wales. For many years, the choir and its members have matured into a mixed voice choir. And the successes just keep on coming; winning in the National Eisteddfod, Eisteddfod Pontrhydfendigaid, Cheltenham Choral Festival and North Wales Choral Festival. The choir also won the mixed choir category in the Côr Cymru competition in 2013, and to top it all, winning the National Choir of the Year competition in 2014. The choir also enjoys travelling as a chance to relax, socialize and sing. The choir has travelled to the USA, Poland, Canada and Ireland, as well as across England and Wales extensively. The choir has had many highlights, including performing in the official opening of the Wales Millennium Centre in 2004, singing in the Millennium Stadium before rugby matches, including for England Rugby World Cup 2015, and singing in the Basilica San Zeno Maggiore in Verona and Basilica St. Marl’s in Venice whilst on a trip to Lake Garda, Italy.
