The history of techno house, acid house and electro in Finland began in the early 1990's. One of the first music-making pioneers in the Finnish scene was Corporate 09. The group took shape in early 1991 when Turku-based Pertti Grönholm and Mika Vainio produced several industrial and house influenced techno tracks for warehouse parties and clubs that were organized by Hyperdelic Housers party collective. A vinyl EP entitled as In Joy We Trust was the first release by Corporate 09. The EP went out in spring of 1991 and it was issued by Castle Communications. Some tracks, such as The Beast were frequently played in local warehouse parties. The first Corporate 09 album saw daylight in the autumn 1991. The CD was entitled as Mindprobe, also issued by Castle Communications. These two releases are considered to be the first 12" EP and CD recordings in Finnish techno house scene. Tracks such as Almighty Me and Acidosis became punchy floorfillers in undergound dance parties and some of the tracks were even aired in Finnish radio and TV programs. However, the EP and the album did not mark a breakthrough of electronic dance music in Finland. Techno and house gained more ground only a couple of years later. Since 1992, after Vainio pursued to his own career as a solo artist and later as a member of Pan Sonic, Corporate 09 has been more or less a solo project of Grönholm. The musical style of Corporate 09 has varied from industrial driven techno towards wider soundscapes of ambient house and IDM. Occasionally Corporate 09 has had excursions to the realms of electro and acid house. However, Corporate 09 has never followed the hippy trends of the electronic dance scene. In the latter half of the 1990s individual tracks by Corporate 09 were released in compilations by Unitunes (a joint label of Dum Records and Sähkö Recordings) and Sauna Connections. In the early 2000s Valimo Productions issued one CDR album The Egotrip - Remixes containing remixes and another album, a double CDR compilation Catalogues 1-2. Corporate 09 is currently released by Valimo Productions (Finland).
