Course of Empire was an Alternative / post-punk band based in Dallas, Texas. The band was active for ten years, starting in 1988 and then disbanding in '98. The band had a distinctive sound to their music as they had two drummers in the line-up, playing simultaneously - this gave a 'propulsive, driving beat'.
