Born in 1965 in Manhattan, New York. In 1981, his music career started as DJ in the Cat Club (New York, NY, USA) and a job at the dance department of Columbia Records. He did promotion work for several artists like the Beastie Boys, Sinéad O'Connor, New Order and Joy Division, to name a few. He also got a music program at radio WBRU-FM. In 1987, he started his own independent label Big Beat. He joined Atlantic Records in 1991 when Big Beat was acquired by Atlantic. He finally transitioned to co-president of Atlantic Records. In March 2004, when Atlantic Records and Elektra Records merged, he became the co-chairman/COO of Atlantic Records Group.
