Scott, an ex banker, got a solo recording contract after his band, Revival, won a Battle of the Bands contest in May 1969 and their single, 'Viva Joe Bobby' reached #14 on the NZ pop charts. His first release, 'Smiley' by Australian pop star Ronnie Burns got to #3 on the NZ charts. He then released the single 'Star Crossed Lovers' (which was his only number one single), 'Let's Get A Little Sentimental', 'When Jojo Runs' and 'Ciao Baby' all made the top ten. His last single to be successful was 'Wind and Rain' in 1975 peaking at #11.
