Cris Cheek is a poet original from London, UK. He is currently on the staff of Miami University in Ohio. Cris Cheek met Bob Cobbing when he was 19 and remained close to him throughout Cobbing's life. Cheek's audio work started in the intersection of sound poetry and free improvisation. Some of the musicians he worked with were involved in the London Musicians' Collective. During this time his work was published on several cassette editions on labels such as Balsam Flex. With his partner of 17 years Sianed Jones, Cheek was a part of the group Slant, and they produced a son named Osian Tam. In recent years, Cris' work has embraced electronic technology including computers, video projection and lo-fi electronic devices. He continues to think of his work from the basis of poetry, but has expanded into many others areas.
