Rock and Alternative
In 1994 Dan Singer (under the alias Lord Ezec) formed the New York hardcore band, Crown of Thornz, along with former Breakdown guitarist Mike Dijan. They released their debut EP “Train Yard Blues” in 1995 on Equal Vision Records, dedicated to Ezec’s younger brother David who had died the previous year. In 1995, Crown of Thornz took part in an N.Y.H.C. documentary. Their live performances were captured (including a fight breaking out during the opening song of their set) as well as an insightful interview where Singer spoke about the tragic suicide of his younger brother as well as the time he was stabbed. The following year Crown Of Thornz released “Mentally Vexed” on Another Planet Records. Breaking up in 1990 and reuniting in 2013, after two exclusive reunion shows (at Ieper Fest in Belgium and This Is Hardcore in Philadelphia,) Crown Of Thornz toured North America with Rancid and The Transplants.
