Album AU 2013 on East Dominion label
Rock (Indie Rock)
In 2013, Cub Callaway decided it was time to get back into writing and performing his own songs and has released a new album “Silver & Gold”, that features original material drawing on influences from the last 30 years of independent music. The album features appearances by many of his former colleagues including John Hoey (Died Pretty), Warwick Gilbert (Radio Birdman), Paul Larsen (Celibate Rifles), Clyde Bramley (Hoodoo Gurus) and Julie Mostyn Gilbert (Flaming Hands). Local artists Ian Johnson, Louis Callaway and Harry Rothenfluh also play on the album. The album features a range of original songs plus covers of Died Pretty’s Godbless and The Diva’s Blue Collar/White Collar. A version of The New Christs track, Waiting World from their first single in 1981, is included, a song that Callaway wrote with Rob Younger. The songs range from themes on the global economic malaise to declarations of personal independence. A feature track is “Framed within the Law” where Julie Mostyn Gilbert delivers a stunning vocal.
